A very broad cross section of construction and manufacturing work can
now be undertaken much more efficiently using laser measuring
technology.
Cutting Edge Lasers’ (CEL) managing director Stephen Ferguson, confirms
that lasers are now providing cost effective applications in
increasingly high tech construction and cabinet making industries.
He says tradespeople spend a lot of time taking measurements when doing
quotations, when manufacturing and during installations. “Laser
measurement means they get it right the first time, quotes,
manufacturing and installation is more precise and right the first
time. The use of laser measuring applications improves quality, saves time
and saves money.”
Today in wood working trades there is much more scope for the use of
laser measuring technology suggests Mr Ferguson.
“A good number of
tradespeople are laser technology savvy, but there still exists a lot
of potential for many in the industry to gain real benefits by using
available laser measuring devices.”
Mr Ferguson points to the opportunities that exist to apply greater
laser measuring systems to expensive, high tech CNC wood working
machines.
“Efficiency gains of 5-10 percent are achievable using lasers
that can be integrated into CNC machine software systems to raise
manufacturing efficiencies, optimise panel and other product
utilisation and save real dollars.”
Lasers are now widely available for use by the wood working industry.
They can be supplied by CEL to assist with the wide range of measuring
tasks, improve the precision and cost efficiencies of the manufacturing
process, and greatly improve cabinet and other componentry installation
tasks.
CEL is Australia’s laser technology specialists to the manufacturing
and construction sectors. They have the capacity to supply the broader
timber industry measurement needs. Perth-based, CEL also has agencies
in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Mr Ferguson says CEL has a particular emphasis on businesses and
tradespeople manufacturing or working with wood products. “However, we
can also advise on tools and technologies to assist the optimisation of
various machinery and processes for metal, glass, textiles and
concrete.”
CEL are the Australian representatives for Geo-Fennel of Baunatal,
Germany. Geo-Fennel has a history going back over 150 years of
supplying quality survey and measuring equipment. CEL is also
Australia’s representative for Z-LASER, one of the world’s foremost
companies specialising in laser projectors for manufacturing,
construction and medical applications. |
